Did Captain America get an all-new Harley-Davidson motorcycle in his latest flick?
There’s a lot of hype being generated for the upcoming new Marvel Comics movie Captain America:Civil War. There were plenty of Easter Eggs in this latest trailer for fans, but the one we’re heavily interested in is the possibility a brand new Harley-Davidson model being introduced in the movie.
You see, when Marvel rebooted Captain America for the modern day, Harley-Davidson saw a golden opportunity to market itself towards the current generation in a new and different way. After all, what is a better combination than having an all-American hero riding a proper all-American bike, right?
In the first movie, Captain America:The First Avenger, Captain Rodgers proudly rode a perfectly replicated WW2 era Harley-Davidson WLA ‘Liberator’ to fight The Red Skull and his fanatical Hydra division. In the second movie, Captain America:The Winter Soldier, Captain Rodgers traded up to a more modern Harley-Davidson Street 750 model instead, which no doubt boosted the bike’s status for the American marque. (Find out more about the Street 750 here and here)
Then, Harley-Davidson took things up to the next level for the Captain in the second Avengers film, Avengers:Age Of Ultron with the groundbreaking Harley-Davidson Project Livewire electric bike. Though the Captain didn’t ride it much and ‘borrowed’ it to the gorgeous Black Widow instead, the bike stole the limelight on screen even before winning the hearts and minds of fans and journalists alike in its special Project Livewire Tour. With this new Captain America:Civil War trailer, your guess is as good as ours really. Although the new bike spotted in it looks suspiciously similar to the rivalling new Victory Octane dragster, rumours suggest that is an all-new model from the famed Milwaukee-based institution instead. However, some quarters believe it could be a specially dressed up and customised Street 750 instead.
Until more details surface, we’ll just have to wait until we see it better when the new Marvel flick hits the silver screen in Malaysia starting May this year. In the meantime, you can watch the awesome trailer posted above.
