Sym is looking into entering the world of small-capacity motorcycle with the introduction of the 2018 Sym Trazer 200.
Equipped with an 183cc single-cylinder engine, the Trazer 200 is said to produce 18hp and 16Nm of torque.
Other features include spoke wheels with off-road tyres, long-travel suspension, selectable ABS, and many more.
With the world gaining more and more interest in off-road or dual-sport riding, manufacturers are beginning to fuel this particular market with some of the world’s most amazing bikes. Only recently are we seeing manufacturers tapping into lower-capacity adventure bike market with some worthy mentions such as the 2017 Kawasaki Versys-X 250 and 2017 BMW G 310 GS just to name a few.
It seems that Sym is getting their hands into this huge pot with the introduction of their latest 2018 Sym Trazer 200. Designed to cater to any beginner wanting to explore the world of dual-sport riding, the 2018 Sym Trazer 200 comes ready with all the usual necessities to make it durable and robust.
Fitted with an 183cc single-cylinder engine, the 2018 Trazer 200 is said to produce 18hp and 16Nm of torque. In comparison the one of Sym’s most popular model in Malaysia which is the VTS 200 scooter, the Trazer 200 has about 3.5hp and 2.3Nm of torque more than the maxi-scooter.
Other specifications worthy of mention are the seemingly robust spoke tyres fitted with off-road rubbers (19-inch front and 17-inch rear), long travel suspension, and selectable ABS functions just to name a few. Looking at the photos, slapping on a couple of side panniers and you’re more than ready to take on the world.
The question on pricing and whether the bike will be made available here in Malaysia still remains a mystery. Judging by how much the Sym VTS 200 Special Edition costs (RM11,766 basic price with GST), we’re guessing that it’ll be somewhere in the region of RM13,000. Now that is something we like to call cheap.
For now, you can check out the 2017 Kawasaki Versys-X 250 or the 2017 BMW G 310 GS.
