Suzuki could preview next generation GSX-R model with newly-teased Suzuki GSX concept bound for this year’s Tokyo Motor Show.
Whilst rivals Honda have already previewed a stellar line up of concepts for the upcoming 2015 Tokyo Motor Show, the mighty S-brand is also gearing itself up with at least one concept. Suzuki did not reveal much with the teaser image, but the GSX concept nameplate likely suggest that the Hamamatsu brand could preview its next generation GSX-R supersport model during the show. The Suzuki GSX-R, better known as the ‘Gixxer’ amongst its legion of fans, has been around for sometime in its current form. An update is long overdue given the fact that its other Japanese rival Yamaha have already answered the calling with its new YZF-R1, whilst Kawasaki have confirmed plans for an improved new ZX-10R as well. The next generation Suzuki GSX-R will not come so soon though following confirmed reports that Suzuki will field a lightly updated GSX-R 1000 in the middle of next year. Our best estimate is that a brand new Suzuki GSX-R 1000 would only arrive as early as 2018. Sources: MCN / Asphaltandrubber / Visordown
