Kawasaki has just launched their third ever supercharged machine in the form of the touring-friendly 2018 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX.
Two different models are available; 2018 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX and Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE.
Some highlighted features are cornering lights, traction control, launch control, electronic cruise control, Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF) and bi-directional quickshifter.
After two years since the introduction of the manic supercharged Kawasaki Ninja H2, Team Green decided that this ultimate track day machine has the potential to become the ultimate touring machine. That’s exactly what they did with the introduction of the new 2018 Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX.
Kawasaki’s third addition into their supercharged motorcycle line-up is the ultimate sport-touring machine and boy, does it put a huge emphasis on the sport part. With a vast experience in forced induction technology, the latest addition into the Ninja family comes in two different variants; the standard-but-not-so-standard Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX and the Kawasaki Ninja H2 SX SE (Special Edition).
What so special about the Ninja H2 SX SE? Well, it’s the first Kawasaki model to come with a brand new TFT colour display. Other exceptional features include cornering lights, traction control, launch control (yup, definitely need one in a sport-touring bike), electronic cruise control, Kawasaki Cornering Management Function (KCMF) and the ever-helpful up and down quickshifter.
Referring to the KCMF, the system works together with the bike’s internal IMU unit to lend a helping hand by constantly monitoring the engine, chassis, brake and power delivery from the moment you’re getting ready to enter a corner up to blasting out of them.
The suspension package are all fully adjusted on both ends to ensure the most optimum riding feel and experience according to the load by modulating its remote rear preload adjuster. So whether it’s solo riding or with pillion plus all that baggage for a cross-country trip, you’ll always get the best ride to your favourite getaway across the border.
Power and torque come in abundance thanks to its supercharged 998cc, inline-four engine which punches out a total of 201hp and over 137Nm of maximum torque. You might think that the new H2 SX will burn a huge hole in your wallet from all the fuel it’ll gobble down but the folks over at Kawasaki has managed to keep the fuel consumption at the level as their Versys 1000 touring bike.
Combined with a 19-litre fuel tank, the 2018 H2 SX extends its riding range making it a truly worthy super tourer. The weight however is a bit on the hefty side which sits just over the 255kg fully-fuelled. The weight is easy to miss once you twist that throttle out on the open road, though.
Still no news on the price but judging by how deep your pockets need to be just to buy the previous Ninja H2, we’re guessing you might need those similar pockets to cop one of these bad boys for yourself.
