BMW Motorrad Malaysia has officially listed the 2020 BMW S 1000 XR sport-touring model (or Adventure Sports) for sale here in Malaysia. If you’re looking for a long-distance tourer that also carries some ‘sporty aggressiveness’, the BMW S 1000 XR should be on your watchlist.
In essence, it’s like taking the heart out of BMW S 1000 RR superbike and placing it into a frame that will let you travel further with high levels of comfort. With sharp and aggressive lines flowing from front to back, the new S 1000 XR comes with revised riding ergonomics for smooth riding experience for you and your pillion rider.
Powered by a 999cc inline-four engine, the new S 1000 XR produces 165hp at 11,000rpm and 114Nm of maximum torque at 9,250rpm. All that power is sent to the rear wheel via a six-speed synchromesh gearbox with spur gears plus final chain drive. Top speed? Over 200km/h, obviously. You can view those speeds and more on its beautiful 6.5-inch TFT screen.
The new BMW “Flexi Frame” was adopted from the brand’s superbike range, which helps to cut down some significant weight. New suspension and subframe also help to reduce the overall weight by 9%. In other words, the new 2020 BMW S 1000 XR is a whopping 10kg lighter than the previous model (223kg kerb weight).
