In conjunction with the launch of the Boon Siew Honda Racing Support Programme, BSH also took the opportunity to unveil its latest big bike model for the Malaysian market, the updated 2020 Honda Rebel 500. Unveiled globally late last year, the new Honda Rebel has finally arrived on our shores with some much-needed upgrades to turn it into a more ‘complete’ Japanese bobber.
Most of the exterior looks of the 2020 Honda Rebel 500 remains the same as the previous generation model, with the addition of a brand-new front LED headlight setup. In fact, all the lighting systems on the new Rebel 500 is LED.
Updated to comply with the Euro4 emissions regulations, the 471cc parallel-twin liquid-cooled engine now produces 45.5hp at 8,500rpm and 43.3Nm of maximum torque at 6,000rpm. Adapted from the CBR500R sports-oriented sibling, the 2020 Honda Rebel 500 offers strong bottom-end torque as well as smooth power delivery which is perfect for new and experienced riders.
Its six-speed manual transmission is now enhanced with the addition of an assist and slipper clutch. Also to make riding a little more enjoyable, its circular minimal speedometer now comes with a digital gear position indicator and more comfortable seats, something that was clearly lacking from the previous-generation model.

- Twin Showa rear shock absorbers (nitrogen-charged) with pro-link system
- 11.2-litre fuel tank (around 26km/litre fuel consumption)
- 16-inch wheels (130/90 front, 150/80 rear)

- 690mm low-seat height
BSH will be selling the new 2020 Honda Rebel 500 at RM32,899 per bike (price excluding insurance, road tax & registration). Three colours are available; Matte Jeans Blue Metallic, Matte Armored Silver Metallic and Graphite Black.
