Triumph Motorcycles Malaysia just dazzled everyone at the Triumph Muscle Mania event with the launch of the 2020 Triumph Thruxton RS, Rocket 3 R, and Rocket 3 GT. Then they decided to blow off the roof by unveiling their latest dual-purpose machine, the 2020 Triumph Tiger 900 range.
Interested customers can choose between six different variants based on their riding needs and scenarios. Starting with the base Triumph Tiger 900, the main highlight of this beast is the heart; an 888cc inline-three engine with an improved cooling system that churns out a cool 93.9hp and 87Nm of maximum torque.
Labelled as the brand’s most capable, agile, and dynamic middleweight adventure bike yet, a lightweight package with a more powerful engine packs in quite a punch with added versatility when it comes to ride handling, manoeuvrability, and outright comfort.
With a revised centre of gravity (thanks to redesigned chassis and engine positioning), the Tiger 900 also offers great ground clearance as well as balance even at lower speeds. Several different versions with adjustable seat heights are available and in total, six different variants give the riders different options to have a bike suitable to their needs.
The six variants are the base Triumph Tiger 900, Tiger 900 GT, Tiger 900 GT Low, Tiger 900 GT Pro, Tiger 900 Rally, and the Tiger 900 Rally Pro. The main differences between all six models are the suspension offering where the first four models come with Marzocchi unit (GT has adjustable rebound and compression, GT Pro is all electronically-controlled) while the Rally and Rally Pro are fitted with some delicious Showa package.
Braking is handled by the same package for all variants; front twin 320mm floating discs, Brembo Stylema 4 piston Monobloc callipers, radial front master cylinder and ABS while the rear is taken care of with a single 255mm disc Brembo single-piston sliding calliper and ABS.
Sending all the necessary info the rider is done via a seven-inch TFT screen (five inches for the base Tiger 900) that’s beautifully designed for optimum information output. Other notable specs for different variants include:
- Cast alloy wheels for 900 & 900 GT (19-inch front, 17-inch rear)
- Tubeless spoke wheels for 900 Rally & Rally Pro (21-inch front, 17-inch rear)
- Cornering ABS (for all variants except for the base model)
- Updated Traction Control
- All-round LED lighting
- Triumph Shift Assist Quickshifter (GT Pro & Rally Pro)
- Selectable Riding Modes (six in total but varies between model options)
