Yamaha Motor Indonesia has expanded its small-capacity motorcycle line-up with the launch of their latest naked modern-retro model, the 2020 Yamaha XSR 155. With its catchphrase “Born to be Free”, fans in the country can cop one of the bad boys at only IDR36,265,000 (around RM10,717 according to the current exchange rate).
The latest Yamaha offering in Indonesia comes fitted with a 155cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled, SOHC, four-valve, fuel-injection engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) that produces a healthy 19hp (14.2kW) at 10,000rpm and 14.7Nm of maximum torque at 8,500rpm.
This modern-retro package also comes with a fully digital LCD round speedometer that further enhances the bike’s retro appeal together with the single-seat ‘heritage’ design. Its drip-shaped fuel tank not only looks super fly but also has an impressive fuel-carrying capacity of 10.4 litres.
The ‘Deltabox’ frame is matted to an all-aluminium rear swingarm and also inverted telescopic front forks. All-round LED lights are also included in the package. Moving down, you’ll also notice a set of 17-inch rims wrapped with tubeless dual-purpose tyres for some extra fun on the roads less travelled.
The 2020 Yamaha XSR 155 comes in two colour options for the Indonesian market, Silver and Black. It definitely looks like a winner in our books and will probably do well if or when Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) decides to make this particular model available here in Malaysia. The XSR 155 was initially launched in Thailand back in August 2019.
