Ducati Panigale V2 wants to race in WorldSSP

Randy Krummenacher, the 2019 WorldSSP champion, has been seen testing at the Misano International Circuit on board a surprisingly Ducati Panigale V2 prepped by the Barni Racing Team. The Swiss rider and his former team is gearing up for a possible change in the WorldSBK intermediate class for 2021.

This move might just enable more powerful supersports to compete in the class. Currently, only bikes ranging from 400cc-750cc are able to race in the category which are listed below:

  • Four cylinders – 400cc-600cc
  • Three cylinders – 500cc-675cc
  • Two cylinders – 600cc-750cc

A huge shapeup in the WorldSSP category for 2021 could mean the possible entry for some highly regarded supersports like the 955cc Ducati Panigale V2, 800cc MV Agusta F3, 765cc Triumph Daytona, and more. This will certainly bring the manufacturers up to date with the race series, especially in that particular category.

As of now, most eyes are only on the top WorldSBK class where Kawasaki’s Jonathan Rea took home his sixth consecutive world title on board the Kawasaki Ninja ZX-10R. It was a great season battling with the likes of the Ducati Panigale V4, BMW S 1000 RR, and Yamaha YZF-R1, but 2021 will be more amazing with newer bikes and riders’ line-up.
