The World Ducati Week 2018 (WDW 2018) recently concluded just last month where thousands upon thousands of Ducati enthusiasts from around the world gathered for a two-day extravaganza in Misano, Italy. One of the biggest highlights of this year’s event had to be the Race of Champions where renowned Ducati riders competed on board the very sexy 2018 Ducati Panigale V4 S.
The bikes were not just any normal Ducati Panigale V4 S. Primed for racing, 13 special editions were designed and raced by a group of amazing Ducati riders such as Andrea Dovizioso, Jorge Lorenzo, Michelle Pirro, Jack Miller, Danilo Petrucci, Tito Rabat, Karel Abraham, Troy Bayliss, Chaz Davies, Marco Melandri, Xavi Fores, and Michael Rinaldi (Chaz Davies had to watch from the sidelines due to an unfortunate injury).
Michelle Pirro won the race with style but what’s more amazing is the fact that all thirteen bikes were auctioned off on eBay for anyone with enough cash to purchase and own some very special (and bloody rare since they were piloted by legendary Ducati riders) models in conjunction with WDW 2018. And guess what? All 13 bikes have been sold out!
Ducati received over 7,000 online bids and the most prized bike was surprisingly the one ridden by Troy Bayliss. The highest bid and winner paid a huge sum of €120,000 which roughly translates to RM567,600! Most would think that this price is of a ridiculous amount but the owners are also given a series of special racing components used by the riders in the Race of Champions.
These bikes feature exclusive livery and graphics dedicated to each and every rider with colours to match their race bikes used in MotoGP and WorldSBK. To make things even more special, a badge showing the rider’s name and race number is placed on the steering yoke together with an autographed fuel tank plus a certificate of authenticity so you can really show off to your friends about owning one of these babies.
The Ducati Panigale V4 S used by Andrea Dovizioso, Marco Melandri, Jorge Lorenzo, and Michelle Pirro fetched between €40,000 to €62,400 (RM189,000 to RM295,000) followed by bikes built for Jack Miller, Chaz Davies, Tito Rabat, Xavi Fores, Karel Abraham, Michael Rinaldi, and Xavier Simeon.
We’ve personally tested the stock Ducati Panigale V4 S during the Ducati Riding Experience (DRE) Racetrack Academy held last June and we were stupendously impressive by how the bike performed. We are confident that these 13 special editions with race components and liveries dedicated to the individual riders will be even more magnificent for their new owners. WHAT.A.BEAST.
