KTM has announced that their latest 2017 KTM RC390 will be getting a few important updates including a ride-by-wire throttle system.
Other updates include a power assist slipper clutch, side-mounted exhaust and bigger front disc brake for overall improved performance.
KTM has also stated that the new RC390 has better ergonomics with adjustable clutch and brake levers, wider side mirrors and redesigned seat for rider and pillion for greater comfort.
The leading Austrian motorcycle manufacturer KTM has announced that their 2017 KTM RC390 almost middleweight sports bike will be getting a few interesting upgrades that we’re sure will excite a few motoring enthusiasts in the scene.
As stated in the title, the latest KTM RC390 will be getting a new ride-by-wire throttle system which KTM claims will help provide a smoother acceleration and controlled power delivery from its 373cc liquid-cooled single cylinder engine. The new system is also claimed to improve the bike’s overall fuel efficiency.
KTM also noted that the latest generation RC390 will also be getting a power assist slipper clutch to help with the overall improvements of the riding experience and also makes the bike easier to get it rolling. The function of the slipper clutch is also to avoid any rear wheel lock when one is going down through the gears from higher speeds.

As we have witnessed from last year EICMA show in Milan, the 390 DUKE has been assigned with a new side-mounted exhaust which will also be featured on the updated RC390. The side-mounted traditional silencer exhaust design has been implemented to make sure that the new RC390 complies with the strict Euro4 regulations.
Despite the new move to meet with stricter emission regulations, the new RC390 is said to provide an extra horsepower from its predecessor with 44hp and 35Nm of torque. There are other changes to help in improving the new RC390’s ergonomics such as adjustable clutch and brake levers, slightly wider side mirrors and a newly-improved seat for added comfort.
Other features include a bigger 320mm front disc brake with four-piston brake calliper developed by Brembo and an ABS system provided by Bosch. Adjustable WP Suspensions still handles the shock absorbing department but the ones found on the new RC390 as well as 390 DUKE are said to further enhance the bikes’ ride and handling.
