Pol Espargaro might have gotten one of the best Christmas presents anyone in motorsports has only dreamt about. Although it’s a bit late, all can be forgiven when you’ve spent your morning training hard and coming home to see a Repsol Honda RC213V perched in your living space.
Starting the new year as HRC’s factory MotoGP rider, Pol Espargaro was head over heels upon meeting his Honda RC213V for the very first time. Dress in the Repsol Honda colours, it also came with Pol’s new number 44 which if you ask any rider, it’s a sight to behold.
Smiling from ear to ear, Pol Espargaro commented, “I’m about to cry Wow. I would never have guessed, this is crazy. I want to keep it here forever! The number looks great. I worked really hard to see this number here. It’s amazing. This bike, with its colours, has always been the ultimate rival. It was our target.”
Pol Espargaro was seen as the perfect candidate to tame the wild Honda RC213V looking at his particularly unique yet aggressive riding style since his days in Moto2. He’ll be partnering up with Marc Marquez, which is both good and bad considering that in any team, the first person you have to beat is your teammate.
All teams and riders are currently waiting for the latest news regarding the possibility of running the pre-season test or ‘winter test’ in Sepang next month. There’s also no indicator that Marquez will ride anytime soon, which means that Pol will be carrying the load for Repsol Honda to fighting for podium contention.
