BMW Motorrad recently unveiled a new Adventure-spec variant of the mid-sized F800GS. This marks the first time BMW has added an extreme ‘Adventure’ variant to the smaller capacity model, giving the GS line up a total of five models.
Like the Adventure variants of the larger 1150GS and 1200GS siblings, the new variant of the F800GS features a larger screen, revised bodywork, a 10mm raise in seat height (890mm), wider enduro footpegs, engine protection bar, hand guards, and a panier rack.
One key difference between the F800GS Adventure and the regular F800 is the former’s use of a larger capacity 24-litre fuel tank, to which BMW claims extended the bike’s range by roughly 121km. This means that the F800GS Adventure has an increased maximum potential travel range of 354km.
The bike retains the same 798cc four-valve parallel-twin engine that produces 85bhp and 82.6Nm of torque. Adding to this further is a ‘Travel Edition’ trim, but it is currently exclusively offered in the UK only. The Travel Edition adds further to the bike’s features list with Automatic Stability Control, enduro off-road riding mode, LED auxiliary headlights, heated grips, a centre stand, an on board computer, as well as an optional set of off-road tyres.
The F800GS Adventure comes standard equipped with ABS brakes, and it also features a reinforced rear sub-frame to cope with the extra load of fuel and accessories.
In the UK, prices for the F800GS Adventure will begin from £9,750 (RM45,035)while the Travel Edition will start from £10,535 (RM48,661) instead.
