The folks organising the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2020 has announced that the planning for their biggest event yet is still going on and will take place from 7 August 2020. The biggest bikers’ get-together will be celebrating their 80th anniversary this year and despite rising concerns of the Covid-19 pandemic, the organisers are not too worried that it’ll continue on five months down the road.
Bikers from around the globe have either experienced, witnessed, or talked about the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally as the place to be in America if you love bikes and parties. For ten days straight every August, the town of Sturgis in South Dakota turns into a bikers’ gathering amounting to the hundreds of thousands each year.
The latest update of their official website states “News about the COVID-19 continues to evolve on a daily basis. The City of Sturgis is closely monitoring developments to determine how best to assist our Rally goers with the best information possible. The scheduled start date is Friday, August 7th. Currently, we are planning on having the greatest rally ever.”
So, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally 2020 is still taking place and planning is going as scheduled. With that being said, the US has the highest number of infected cases; 142,735 to be exact. Hundreds of new cases are being reported each day and it doesn’t look good as even Italy and China are behind by quite a margin (although both these countries have higher death figures).
We sure hope that the COVID-19 pandemic will die down in the coming months but if the trend continues, we’re pretty sure that the event will be cancelled, or receive an underwhelming number of attendances. Again, stay safe, practise good hygiene, and we’ll be riding in no time. Our prayers are with everyone.
