Yamaha Motor Corporation (USA) followed up with yet another addition to their small capacity motorcycle line up with the 2018 Yamaha V Star 250 cruiser.
Powered by a 249cc,60-degree V-twin, air-cooled, SOHC carburettor engine, it’s the only V-twin motorcycle in its class.
The US market will start delivering the 2018 V Star 250 beginning September 2017 with a price tag of $4,349 (around RM18,606).
Together with the very recent release of the 2018 Yamaha XT250 and TW200 dual-sport motorcycles, Yamaha continues to expand their small capacity bike line up with the addition of the 2018 Yamaha V Star 250 cruiser. This comes right after another exciting launch of their Goldwing contender ‘transcontinental cruiser’, the 2018 Yamaha Star Venture.

Those looking for some style and flair when cruising down the highway can turn to this exciting Yamaha package which has been made affordable without sacrificing any part of the cruiser’s appeal thanks to this all-new 2018 V Star 250 offering. Powered by a 249cc,60-degree V-twin, air-cooled, SOHC carburettor engine that drives all the power down to its rear 15-inch wheel via a five-speed multiple wet clutch.
The compact custom-styled cruiser has been designed to be lightweight with a low seat height that’s perfect for those who likes big things that comes in compact packages. Packed with big bike style and persona, the V Star 250 comes with dual exhaust and various chrome parts that makes the iconic Star design.
As the only V-twin motorcycle in its 250cc class, the V Star 250 offers great fuel mileage at only 3 litres/100km. This means that the 9.5 litre fuel tank allows the bike (and rider) to travel 300km when cruising down the open highway.
This little cruiser also comes with a good brake package for added safety. The front is covered by a 282mm hydraulically-operated disc brake for optimum stopping power while the rear is equipped with a 130mm drum brake for superior control without being too overwhelming even for beginner riders. To add more cruiser characteristic, the front telescopic fork is connected to an 18-inch wheel that offer great suspension and ride-ability.
So far, the 2018 Yamaha V Star 250 sounds like a good all-rounder. With a recommended price tag of $4,349 (around RM18,606 after direct conversion) for the US market beginning in September, we too feel that it’ll be a great hit once it arrives in Malaysia. Considering that the 250cc capacity doesn’t require riders to upgrade their riding license to B full, the V Star 250 has a lot of potential to go big. The question is, when will it come?
