BMW Motorrad launches 2021 BMW R 18 Classic Edition

Malaysia just witnessed the official launch of the 2020 BMW R 18 First Edition but now, BMW Motorrad has unveiled the second version of this 1,800cc masterpiece, the 2021 BMW R 18 Classic Edition. It carries all the elements from the First Edition model with some additions to further elevate its touring capabilities.

The ‘purist’ style of the R 18 remains with the Classic Edition model from its powerful 1,802cc boxer-twin engine right up to its chassis and colour scheme. What’s extra about the 2021 BMW R 18 Classic Edition compared to the First Edition are:

  • Large front windscreen
  • Passenger seat
  • Saddle bags
  • Additional dual-LED front headlights
  • 16-inch front wheel

Peak power output still remains at decent 91hp at 4,750rpm, but the highlight of the R 18 is its torque, which sits over 150Nm from as low as 2,000rpm-4,000rpm. The added windshield, saddle bags, and passenger seat are removable if you feel like rolling as the First Edition model.

What you do get on the Classic Edition that’s not available on the First Edition is Cruise Control. That’s right, this ultra-premium cruiser finally has a cruise control function fitted as standard. Other highlighted features include:

  • ASC (Automatic Stability Control)
  • Engine drag torque control (MSR)
  • Reverse assist
  • Hill Start Assist
  • Extra custom parts such as Mustang seats & Vance & Hines exhaust systems

As for pricing, we’re still in the dark about how it’ll all pan out once it arrives here in Malaysia but the First Edition can be yours from RM149,500 (if there are any stocks left). For more information, check out the link below or head over to any of the authorised BMW Motorrad showrooms nationwide.
