The 2020 Triumph Tiger 900 finally breaks cover after all of the details are finally made public in their official global website. The updated ADV offering comes in three different basic variants, the base Tiger 900, Tiger 900 GT for all you long-hauliers, and the off-road conquering Tiger 900 Rally.
According to the site, there are also Pro versions that customers can opt for the GT and Rally (as well as a low-seat height variant) but we’ll get to that later. Starting with the base model, the 2020 Triumph Tiger 900 (and also the rest of the models) comes ready with a new 888cc inline-three engine that produces 93.9hp and 87Nm of maximum torque.
This newer and bigger engine comes ready with an improved cooling system in the form of a twin-radiator setup (new shape & position that are mass optimized + reduced coolant volume). This setup alone lowers the centre of gravity for the new Tiger 900 (which also improves the bike’s overall handling).
The new engine is matted to a new lightweight modular frame that has also been mass optimised. This provides enhanced agility as well as durability for Triumph’s steel trellis frame which also includes an all-aluminium rear sub-frame and bolt-on pillion hangers for better overall weight distribution.
The six-speed manual transmission is now upgraded with a new slip-and-assist clutch unit to further ease the riding efforts in the cities as well as long journeys. We’re also loving the fact that the new Triumph Tiger 900 comes with Brembo Stylema brakes, Marzocchi suspension package, 20-litre fuel tank, and enhanced riding ergonomics.
The front 45mm USD forks are non-adjustable for the base 900 whereas the rear unit has preload adjustability. Opt for the GT model and you’re presented with the same package but with the addition of manual rebound and compression adjustments for the front plus preload and damping adjustment for the rear.
The range-topping Tiger 900 Rally comes fitted with fully-adjustable Showa suspension package to further tune your off-road riding needs but if you prefer some ‘electronic assistance’, go for the GT Pro as it comes with an electronic RSU units which allow electronic adjustments for the rear preload and damping via its beautiful full-colour seven-inch TFT screen (five inches for the base 900 model).

- Tubeless spoke wheels for 900 Rally & Rally Pro (21-inch front, 17-inch rear)
- Cornering ABS (for all variants except for the base model)

- Triumph Shift Assist Quickshifter (GT Pro & Rally Pro)
- Selectable Riding Modes (six in total but varies between model options)
- Heated pillion & rider seats (GT Pro & Rally Pro)
- Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (GT Pro & Rally Pro)
So far, only the base Triumph Tiger 900 has a price release for the US market at $12,500 (around RM52,243). Looking into the fact at how fast Triumph Motorcycles Malaysia works (especially the short amount it took for them to bring in the new Street Triple 765), we’re guessing that it won’t be long before the new Tigers come knocking on Malaysia’s doors.
