Boon Siew Honda launches CB500 series

Barely two weeks after launching the brand new EX5 Dream 110 moped and Air Blade scooter, Boon Siew Honda has kept up its pace in light of the upcoming festive Raya season by introducing its latest offering this week, the CB500 series.

The new CB500 series launching coincided with the grand opening of its latest Honda Impian Shop in Taman Subang Utama, operated by Welly Team Cycle Sdn Bhd. As an added bonus, the Malaysian Honda bikes assembler and distributor also previewed another new model, the CRF250M motard.

CRF M 1

Essentially, this is the supermoto or motard version of the CRF250F dirt bike we tested not too long ago (rear the review here). The M variant is powered by a liquid-cooled 250cc DOHC four-stroke single cylinder engine that develops 23hp at 8,500RPM and 22nm of torque at 7,000RPM.

The mill also utilises the PGM-FI fuel injection system to maximise the efficiency of the 7.7-litre fuel tank, giving it a WMTC fuel consumption rate of 34km/litre. Wrapping up the powertrain is a 6-speed transmission that uses a wet multi-plate clutch system with coil springs.

CRF250M 9

Unlike the dirt-busting CRF250F sibling, this M version wears a set of wider 17-inch wheels wrapped in street tyres measuring 110/70-17M/C 54S at the front and 130/70-17M/C 62S in the rear. The CRF250M motard is also shorter in height than its dirt-bike sibling with a seat height of 855mm, and it also features a shorter side-stand as well.

Other differences from the dirt-bike version include the black-painted rear suspension linkages, heavier weight springs for better road use, as well as the brakes (Front: 296mm floating disc with 2-POT calliper. Rear: 220mm single disc with 1-POT calliper.)

The CRF250M is currently undergoing its final pre-sale stages and Boon Siew Honda execs say that it will reach authorised dealerships “very soon”. No word on pricing just yet but we will update you as soon as the word gets out. In the meantime, you can check out the specifications we have provided below.

Completing the chain-driven powertrain package is a 6-speed transmission that utilises a wet multi-plate clutch system.
