HLYM announces availability of new Yamaha MT-09 sport tourer that’s priced from RM59,900*
Malaysian Yamaha motorcycles assembler and distributor Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn Bhd (HLYM) just announced the availability of the new Yamaha MT-09 Tracer sport tourer in its line up.
The firm had previously held a press preview the model when it launched the Yamaha XV950R Bolt cruiser last year before previewing it openly to the public during the 2015 Shell Malaysian MotoGP weekend.
As you may already know from our previous report, the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer underpins the highly successful and acclaimed Yamaha MT-09 streetbike. Carried over from the MT-09 base bike are features such as Ride-By-Wire electronic throttle with selectable riding modes, traction control, as well as ABS.
The most crucial bit carried over from the MT-09 base bike is the 847cc triple-cylinder powerplant that develops 113.4hp at 10,000rpm and 87.5Nm of peak torque at 8,500rpm. The mill is paired with a six-speed constant mesh transmission and chain final drive setup.
Notable chassis bits include adjustable 41mm telescopic front forks, twin hydraulic 298mm front disc brakes and a seat height of 845mm or 860mm. Besides that, there are a number of notable touring-friendly features as well. Highlights include a decently sized flyscreen, a 12-volt socket, a centre-stand plus the option for a set of soft panniers as well.
HLYM states that it will offer the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer as a fully imported (CBU) model for now and will only offer it in Yamaha’s signature Race Blu paint scheme.
The firm has set a basic sales price of RM59,900 (excluding insurance, road tax and registration costs) for the model that will be available in selected Yamaha showrooms nationwide starting mid-July onwards.
