  • ABS , LED headlights and taillights and adjustable front suspension

  • Two colourways; Graphite Black/Energy Orange and Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic

Attention all fellow bike lovers, this is the updated Honda CBR500R for 2017. The latest generation now comes with ABS as standard equipment, LED lights for both front and back end and a new front suspension with adjustable preload feature.

Equipped with the 471cc liquid-cooled parallel twin DOHC engine, the bore size is similar to its slightly bigger and more powerful sibling, the CBR600RR. This in turn offers a much better power delivery throughout the RPM range for excellent versatility and great riding experience. At peak power, the CBR500R can hit 49.6hp upon reaching 8,500rpm and produce 44Nm of torque for exciting acceleration without being too overwhelming.

Focusing more on newer riders who are looking for a mildly aggressive riding stance and feel, the CBR500R comes with supersport styling that’s appealing to a wide range of audience. With its aerodynamic body work, comfortable handling and a low height seat, the CBR offers a comfortable sporty package that’s exciting for new and experienced riders alike.

Another great feature that can be found on this entry level middleweight is the manufacturer’s trademarked Pro-Link rear suspension. This special shock absorbing equipment from Honda was engineered to enhance overall ride comfort with its nine-stage preload that allows 120mm of travel, allowing it to absorb any road imperfections with ease.

Now for the bad news; the bike is not available in Malaysia just yet and there’s no official news on when it will arrive at our shores. All we know for now is that it will come in two different colourways; the Graphite Black/Energy Orange combo and the ever popular Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic. The bike is however available in the US market with a price tag of $6,599 (around RM29,290).

Considering that the present version (with no ABS) is priced at RM31,681.28 (basic with GST), we strongly assume that the new model with ABS will cost slightly more if Boon Siew decides to bring it to the Malaysian market. CLICK HERE to know more about the new 2017 Honda CBR500R.
