Honda is set to launch the NT1100 as confirmed by type-approval documents filed in Europe for two NT1100 models.
The type-approval documents reveal the NT1100 carries an internal code name of SC84. According to Honda, the “S” refers to the engine above 900cc and “C” means a street bike; in contrast, the CRF1100L Africa Twin is code name SD08, with the “D” refers to an off-road capable motorcycle.
This puts the NT1100 in the same class as the BMW S 1000 XR.
The documents unveil that Honda will introduce a manual transmission with lower specification and a DCT transmission with more touring features.
The NT1100 is packed with the same 1,084cc parallel-twin engine used in the Africa Twin, capable of producing an identical 101hp @ 7,500rpm and 104Nm @ 6,250rpm.
Since the NT1100 shares similarities with the Africa Twin, we can safely assume the new motorcycle will also equip with the same electronics, such as a 6.5″ TFT screen, cruise control, traction control and 6-axis IMU.
Interestingly, in terms of dimension, the NT1100D (DCT) is in the same category as the old VFR800X Crossrunner.
The Honda NT1100 is expected to break cover as a 2022 model later this year.
