Movistar Yamaha MotoGP rider Valentino Rossi clocked in four laps yesterday in Misano on board the Yamaha YZF-R1M as part of his fitness test.
The nine-time World Champion has been eager to get back in the 2017 title chase after having missed the past MotoGP round due to double fracture injury to his right leg.
Rossi has set his sights on racing his beloved Yamaha M1 in Aragon this weekend although his team has announced that WorldSBK Yamaha factory rider Michael van der Mark will be his replacement.
After just 18 days since the unfortunate event that fell upon the MotoGP nine-time world champion Valentino Rossi, the Doctor is back again for some two-wheel action. As part of his recuperating schedule which his actually extraordinarily ahead of time, Rossi clocked in four laps in San Marino at the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli on board of a Yamaha YZF-R1M used by the VR46 Academy.
The 38 year old Italian is said to target a return back on the Movistar Yamaha M1 in Aragon this 24 September 2017; five days from now. Most folks would require months’ worth of rehabilitation to remedy a double fracture in the right leg but for Rossi, it seems like three weeks is more than enough for him. “The Doctor” is eager to get back on the saddle to fight for 2017 MotoGP world championship.

The test around the Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli was also to see whether Rossi is fit enough to get back on the super demanding factory Yamaha M1. The session was unfortunately cut short due to unforgiving wet weather which resulted in determining Rossi’s fitness as inconclusive as he would need to determine whether he can handle the stress of riding the Yamaha M1 especially in the dry.
Although the Movistar Yamaha outfit has announced that WorldSBK factory Yamaha rider Michael van der Mark will be replacing Rossi on the M1 this weekend in Aragon, Rossi will decide (together with MotoGP officials) by tomorrow on whether he’ll be fit enough to race again this Sunday.
