Just like Ducati and Aprilia, MV Agusta’s presence at this year’s EICMA 2014 show is a place where it cannot disappoint. Making a surprise debut, the Varese-based bike artisans took the wraps off a new Rivale-based sport-tourer it christened as the Stradale 800.

Much of the original Rivale model it underpins is carried over into the Stradale 800, including the 798cc triple-cylinder engine, albeit detuned from 125hp down to just 115hp.

New here are the large-sized wind deflector up front and the touring bags. Unlike the Rivale base bike, the Stradale has a lower height, evident with its low ground clearance of 4.92 inches.

MV Agusta states that the model will be inducted into mass-production in a ‘timely’ fashion. We reckon the new 25% share acquisition by Daimler AG’s Mercedes-AMG has something to do with it.

Could this be a solid rival against the Ducati Hyperstrada? Only time will tell.
