New SYM Sport Rider 125i kapchai model launched from RM5,777 (basic with GST) onwards.
SYM Malaysia marked the launch of its latest offering in the form of the SYM Sport Rider 125i earlier today. The new cub or kapchai model was launched in the firm’s base in Penang during a special press launch ceremony.
The SYM Sport Rider 125i marks several firsts for the Taiwanese brand’s Malaysian arm. It is the marque’s first cub model equipped with electronic fuel injection, and this model also makes it regional and global debut here in Malaysia as well.
Assembled locally in Bukit Mertajam, Penang, the SYM Sport Rider 125i underpins a typical backbone chassis construction. It features a sporty modern design that’s complemented with LED daytime running lights and stylish cast alloy wheels.
As mentioned, the SYM Sport Rider 125i is powered by an all-new air-cooled SOHC 123cc single-cylinder powerplant with a two-valve system. Primed with electronic fuel injection, the Euro 3-compliant mill healthily offers 9.5hp @ 8,000rpm and peak torque of 10.8Nm @ 5,500rpm.
All of which is sent to the rear wheel through a four-speed constant mesh transmission – typical of most cubs in this size and segment. Primed on board too is a slightly larger than average 4.2-litre fuel tank.
The chassis comes primed with a pair of telescopic front forks, gas-filled rear shocks and a front disc brake with rear drum setup. Overall, the SYM Sport Rider 125i has a seemingly light claimed nett weight figure of 107kg.

SYM Malaysia will offer three colour options for the new Sport Rider 125i model – yellow, blue and red. Prices start from RM5,777 (basic with GST) and it includes a special three-year or 30,000km warranty plus a one-year or 10,000km engine warranty plan as well.
Also launched was a SYM Sport Rider 125i SE model that’s priced from RM5,904.20 (basic with GST). This special model comes with special matte grey colour scheme, adding more ‘zing’ to this moped’s already dynamic looks.
