A TUDM officer (Royal Malaysian Air Force or RMAF) was unfortunately killed in Kuala Lumpur after hitting a pothole and losing control of his motorcycle, before being run over by a lorry. The unfortunate incident took place at Jalan Kuching yesterday as he was travelling to Subang for work.
The pothole on the left side of the road was submerged in water caused 28-year-old TUDM Corporal, Mohd Husaini Mohd Nasir, to lose control of his motorcycle before being run over. The lorry driver who was driving on the right side only realised the incident after noticing that something had hit his vehicle in the rear and stopped to check.
Unfortunately, the TUDM corporal died at the scene from major head injuries. The accident is currently being investigated for causing death by driving recklessly.
From this incident, we can see that not all road deaths are caused by motorcyclists recklessly riding on the streets. This example is evidence that other factors have to be taken into account, especially poor road conditions. POOR.ROAD.CONDITIONS.
Road safety ‘experts’ should also take into consideration that riding slow and on the left side won’t help to save more lives if the roads motorcyclists constantly travel on are not well-maintained. It is very important for authorities to practise constant maintenance to avoid such incidents from ever happening again.
At the end of the day, we’re all just trying to get to our destinations safely. And don’t get us started on what happens to a lot of major roads when it starts raining. And folks driving while fiddling with their phones.
