MODENAS has officially introduced their latest generation 250cc sports bike that is the 2022 Ninja 250 ABS, Ninja 250 (non-ABS) and the Z250 ABS.

  • rebadged from Kawasaki’s 250cc lineup.
  • features the same 249cc parallel-twin DOHC, 4-valve engine. 
  • Ninja 250 ABS, Ninja 250 and Z250 ABS is MODENAS first range of CKD’s motorcycle. 

In the world of 250cc sports bike segment which is getting more and more competitive by the day, MODENAS Ninja 250 ABS gets its design inspiration from the  championship-winning Ninja ZX-10R.

Starting from the front, the Ninja 250 ABS features LED headlamps and LED tail lights.

To further elevate its big bike appeal, the same panel instrument used on the Kawasaki Ninja 650 is integrated into Kawasaki’s latest 250cc offering which includes a digital speedometer, traditional tachometer, and gear indicator for ease of riding in and out of the track.

Powered by a 249cc, twin-cylinder, eight-valve, DOHC engine, the new MODENAS Ninja 250 ABS makes 36hp at 12,500rpm and 23Nm of maximum torque upon hitting 10,000rpm. All this power is transferred down to its rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox enhanced with Kawasaki’s assist and slipper clutch for ease of riding.

Other highlighted aspects include:

  • 164kg (wet weight)
  • 14-litre fuel tank
  • Front 310mm single semi-floating disc brake with 2-piston caliper
  • Rear 220mm single disc brake with 2-piston caliper
  • 41mm telescopic front forks
The 2022 Ninja 250 ABS is priced at RM20,500 while the non-ABS Ninja 250 is available for RM18,900.

Meanwhile, MODENAS also introduced the Z250 ABS that is available for a recommended selling price of RM19,500.

Similar to the Ninja 250 ABS, the Z250 ABS carries the same 249cc parallel-twin DOHC 4-valve engine that makes 36hp and 23Nm.

Following the Sugomi design concept, the bike Z250 ABS has multiple slated panels.

Other notable features include:

  • LED taillight.
  • LED headlight.
  • Semi-digital instrument panel (meter) inspired by the Z650.
  • Single front petal brake disc and petal rear brake.
  • Dual-channel ABS.
  • The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox with assist and slipper clutch.

Bajaj Auto hopes to venture into the premium electric bike segment with the help of their Austrian partner, KTM.

  • The Chetak electric scooter is Bajaj’s first attempt at electric two-wheelers.
  • The Chetak is currently on sale in 27 cities in India.

Currently, the Indian motorcycle company already has its own electric scooter on sale in India, namely the Chetak.

The Chetak is doing pretty well in terms of sales volume, with over 14,000 units delivered to customers across the country while 16,000 bookings are in the pipeline as of June 2022.

Despite the initial sales was only for Pune and Bengaluru, but due to the high demand, the Chetak electric scooter are now available at 27 cities across India.

However, the next step for Bajaj is to foray into the high-end electric bikes, as confirmed by Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director Bajaj Auto.

“We are in discusiion with KTM, there is a joint work going on where we are looking at platforms for high-end electric motorcycles.

“The plan is on our radar and will be announced at the right time,” he said.

Suzuki bids farewell to its motorsport programme after confirming it will exit the MotoGP and the Endurance World Championship at the end of the 2022 season.

While it may come as a surprise for fans of the brand, the shutting down of its race department has more significant implications for team personnel – from riders to mechanics – who will face unemployment in a few months.

Also affected by the abrupt shutdown is Suzuki’s MotoGP development rider and EWC Champion, Sylvain Guintoli.

The ex-MotoGP, WorldSBK and BSB rider will now be out of a job despite representing the brand at the highest level, developing the GSX-RR and winning with EWC with team Yoshimura SERT.

To honour his contribution for all the years at Suzuki, the Hamamatsu factory has gifted Guintoli a special Hayabusa donned in the Yoshimura SERT Motul team livery.

The special Hayabusa features a red, blue and black livery inspired by Guintoli’s GSX-R race bike at the EWC.

While Suzuki won the 2020 MotoGP world title with Joan Mir, Guintoli is considered the backbone behind the Japanese firm’s shock run to the world championship.

His experience and input in developing the GSX-RR are often credited as the primary factor in the brand’s return to MotoGP royalty.

Aprilia is among the few manufacturers that has a rich racing pedigree, so when the company reached a significant milestone, its only fair to mark the occasion with a specially build motorcycle.

  • Aprilia RSV4 Trenta to feature ‘the spoon’, an aero device currently featured on Aprilia’s RS-GP 22 race bike.

  • A new benchmark for next-generation RSV4.

The Noale factory is set to celebrate its 30 years of title-winning success with a special edition Aprilia RSV4 Trenta.

The RSV4 Trenta was spotted testing at the Cremona circuit with ex-WorldSBK rider, Matteo Baiocco.

While no further details is reveal yet, the Trenta moniker can be seen on the side of the belly pan which could confirm the nameplate that it will carry.

Also, reports suggest that it could bear resemblance to the RSV4 X track-only motorcycle that was unveiled in 2019. Which means that the upcoming Trenta could make around 225hp.

That said, the RSV4 Trent might be limited to just 30 units correspond to Aprilia Racing 30th anniversary.

Closer look at the spy photos, the RSV4 Trenta is fitted with ‘the spoon’, an aero device currently features on Aprilia’s RS-GP 22 MotoGP machine. The ‘spoon’ sits in front of the rear-wheel to allow a direct airflow to the rear and helps to improve stability.

The new development could also signals Aprilia’s intention of bringing the MotoGP-derived technology to its road bike, especially the next-generation RSV4.

Amassing more than 1 million subscribers, Noraly is currently in Season 6 of Itchy Boots Adventures, where she is trying to make her way to Alaska from Ecuador aboard her trusty Honda CRF300 Rally.

During a recent episode (episode 98), Noraly was trying to make it across Mexico by going through Baja, but to her surprise, she accidentally found herself in a desert Rally.

Not only that, but Noraly also found herself riding the wrong way down while the rally was ongoing.

During the 24-minute and 17-second video, you could see several riders going past in other directions, which you can check out below:

Thankfully, Noraly did her best to keep off the main line while the riders pushed forward.

For anyone just catching up, Noraly is an experienced rider, and she rode a proper rally before when she took on the Kalahari in 2021 as a first-timer.

However, in a latest update, Noraly unfortunately got into an accident and injured herself.

Despite countless bike drops and ridden more than 130,000 kilometers across the world, this is the first time that Noraly couldn’t continue riding.

Triumph Motorcycles showed class at the 2022 Baja Aragon by winning the Trail category with Ivan Cervantes aboard the Tiger 900 Rally Pro.

  • Ivan Cervantes rode the latest generation Tiger 900 Rally Pro.
  • The Trail category is a new class introduced alongside Trail-Max for the 2022 edition.

It was a maiden win for Triumph in the new Trail category, which saw Cervantes take home the winners medal riding the Tiger 900 Rally Pro.

Although the Baja Aragon was Cervantes’ second appearance with the Tiger 900 Rally Pro, it was his first rally-style competition with the middleweight adventure bike.

“We came to the Baja Aragón with a clear goal, which was to win the new Trail category on the Tiger 900 Rally Pro.

“Our greater ambition was to finish as high as possible in the overall rankings, where people have been amazed at the pace we have taken with the Trail. We are proud to have done a great job, and I believe we have given everyone a lot to talk about.” said the 40-year-old Spaniard.

The Trail category was new for 2022 along with Maxi-Trail, which saw Joan Pedrero win the event riding on board the Pan America 1250.

The Baja Aragon isn’t just a platform for Triumph to test out the Tiger 900 Rally Pro but also signalling the company’s intention to enter off-road racing. Also, it is in line with the company’s soon-to-be launch motocross and enduro range.

“Once again proves that Triumph is here in off-road racing – and is here to stay. We chose this race because in the future we plan to come here with the Enduro project, and of course we plan to succeed.” added Cervantes.
