R&G, the renowned motorcycle accessory manufacturer, is expanding its product lineup to cater to CFMoto’s 450 SR (also known as the 450 SS in some countries).

  • This move comes in response to the growing popularity of CFMoto’s super sport bike, which has garnered attention in the United States and gained significant traction across Europe.
  • Recognizing the need for enhanced safety, R&G is stepping in to provide riders with essential accessories.

For motorcycle enthusiasts, accessories and support can often be decisive factors when making a purchase. CFMoto 450 SS owners, as well as prospective buyers, will now have access to a wide array of R&G’s offerings designed specifically for this model.

The British accessory maker has developed an extensive range of equipment to safeguard the bike from potential accidents, including Bar-End Sliders, Fork Protectors, Lever Guards, PRO Radiator Guards, Tank Traction Grips, a Fender Eliminator, Dashboard Screen Protector, Blanking Plates, and various other components.

The CFMoto 450 SR has already established itself as an exceptional bike within its class. Competing against the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 400 and other Japanese counterparts, the 450 SR is poised to become CFMoto’s flagship model.

Simon Hughes, the managing director of R&G, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration.

Italian motorcycle manufacturer Ducati has unveiled a new standard feature, the Easy Lift Function, aimed at making it easier for riders to stand their bikes up from the kickstand.

  • This innovative addition is set to enhance accessibility levels and cater to a wider range of riders, particularly those who may face challenges due to the weight and seat height of the Multistrada V4.
  • The Easy Lift Function is designed to lower the seat height of the Multistrada V4, thereby facilitating a more comfortable riding experience for individuals with different heights and body types.

Recognizing the need for improved accessibility, Ducati is also offering additional options such as lowering kits and lowered seat alternatives at its dealerships.

The inspiration behind this feature originated from the Multistrada Rally, which presented difficulties for vertically-challenged riders due to its relatively high seat height. In response, Ducati developed a solution that leverages the hydraulics of the suspension system.

By fully opening the valves of the semi-active dampers for approximately three minutes, the function allows the bike to squat, enabling riders to easily lift the motorcycle from a stationary position. This user-friendly feature grants riders the ability to firmly plant their feet on the ground, facilitating a smooth transition to an upright position and enhancing overall stability while riding.

Building upon the success of the Minimum Preload function introduced in 2022 on the Multistrada V4 Rally, Ducati’s Easy Lift Function offers another layer of accessibility for riders. The height reduction feature was met with enthusiasm, further augmenting the already impressive array of features offered by this large tourer.

One notable aspect of the Easy Lift Function is that it does not require any additional hardware installation on the bike for 2022 V4 S models. Owners of 2022 or later Multistrada V4 S motorcycles can enjoy this feature at no additional cost by having the function loaded into their bike’s system at their Ducati dealer.

As for future Multistrada V4 models, the Easy Lift Function will come as a standard feature. Ducati will notify owners about their bike’s eligibility for the update through the MyDucati app or via email.

Ducati’s commitment to enhancing accessibility through the Easy Lift Function demonstrates its dedication to accommodating a diverse range of riders.

In a world where electric vehicles dominate the automotive and motorcycle industries, Yamaha Corporation is taking a different approach by exploring the potential of hydrogen as an alternative to gasoline engines.

  • Yamaha remains open-minded about the future of mobility despite acknowledging the growing popularity of electric motorbikes and scooters in European and Asian markets.
  • Yamaha aims at finding different alternatives than electric mobility.

Yamaha’s efforts in the electric space are evident, with significant investments in the development of electric powertrains and battery technology. However, the Japanese company is simultaneously focusing on its e-fuel program, aiming to find multiple alternatives to traditional internal combustion engines.

In an interview with the Japan Times, Yamaha President and CEO, Yoshihirro Hidaka, emphasized the importance of keeping a wide range of possibilities open to achieve carbon neutrality. Hidaka stated, “We would like to keep many possibilities – opportunities – to achieve carbon neutrality.”

Yamaha’s Hydrogen Engine Generator prototype.

Among the potential alternatives being explored by Yamaha is hydrogen. While electric vehicles have gained widespread appeal, the potential of hydrogen can often be overlooked. Yamaha’s vision for hydrogen power involves preserving the internal combustion engine. Hidaka mentioned, “Among Japan’s two-wheeler manufacturers, there were hardly any testing hydrogen in addition to electric technology, so we took the lead and built the facility to test battery technology and hydrogen, as well as carbon-neutral fuel.”

Yamaha has prior experience with hydrogen-powered combustion engines, having collaborated with Toyota to develop the engine for the world’s first liquid-cooled hydrogen race car. In May 2023, the Toyota Corolla H2 Concept successfully completed a 24-hour endurance event at the Fuji International Speedway, a groundbreaking achievement in both the automotive sector and the world of motorsports.

However, despite its potential, hydrogen fuel does come with some drawbacks. Currently, it is not as fuel-efficient as traditional gasoline. Additionally, the infrastructure for compressing hydrogen and refueling vehicles is not as widespread as electric vehicle chargers, making it a niche technology for now.

Nevertheless, it is worth noting that electric vehicles were once considered niche as well, and they have rapidly gained acceptance worldwide within a few years.
