In what seems like a modern-day fairy tale for small businesses, Coventry-based motorcycle company, Arc, found itself racing into the limelight after Hollywood actor Ryan Reynolds shared his experience with their high-end electric motorcycle, the Vector.

  • Ryan Reynold heaps praise on his USD120k electric motorcycle.
  • The Arc Vector is a high-performance electric motorcycle with a max speed of over 200km/h.

Taking to Instagram, Reynolds shared his sheer joy of riding the Vector with his whopping 50 million followers. “I’ve never stopped giggling the whole ride,” the actor exclaimed, proclaiming it as the “coolest bike” he had ever experienced. And for those suspecting a promotional angle, Reynolds made it clear he had “no stake or connection” to Arc, simply sharing his genuine passion for the product.

The power of a single post from someone of Reynolds’ stature cannot be underestimated. Almost instantly, Arc found itself fielding a “huge amount” of inquiries and experienced a surge of interest on social media. Speaking to the BBC, Mark Truman, Chairman of Arc, mentioned how invaluable this kind of endorsement is for start-ups, admitting they “would never have been able to pay for that sort of celebrity endorsement.”

So, what is it about the Vector that got Reynolds so revved up? Arc boasts the Vector as the “world’s most advanced motorcycle”. The bike can zoom from 0 to 100km/h in a fleeting 3.2 seconds and can reach a top speed of 200km/h. Not just fast, the Vector also offers impressive endurance, with a range of about 430 kilometres on a mere 40-minute charge. However, all this tech and performance do carry a premium price tag, with each bespoke motorcycle starting at USD120,000 (RM558k).

Adding a personal touch, Truman shared how Reynolds reached out to them expressing that the Vector brought him tantalizingly close to a childhood fantasy – flying just above the ground, akin to Superman.

This serendipitous celebrity endorsement coincides with Arc’s recent launch in the US, where they’ve introduced two exclusive motorcycles for North American enthusiasts. And with the momentum from Reynolds’ post, they’re optimistic about attracting more high-profile aficionados.

Royal Enfield is embracing the electric revolution with plans to introduce its debut electric motorcycle by 2025.

  • Royal Enfield progressing steadily towards inaugural electric two-wheelers launch in 2025.
  • a team of nearly 100 two-wheels and EV expert is currently developing a thriving ecosystem to create a proper electric motorcycle.

A recent report from The Hindu Business Line affirms the brand’s steadfast progress toward this milestone. Acknowledging the shifting tides of the motorcycle industry, Royal Enfield remains committed to both its traditional internal combustion offerings and its pioneering electric venture.

To achieve this vision, the company has established a dedicated electric vehicle division and harnessed the expertise of Mario Alvisi, a former Ducati executive, as the Chief Growth Officer.

With unwavering focus, a close-knit team of nearly 100 experts is working to create not just an electric motorcycle but a thriving electric vehicle ecosystem. Their mission is to craft distinctive, high-performance electric motorcycles that encapsulate Royal Enfield’s signature charm.

Eicher Motors, Royal Enfield’s parent company, has strategically invested in Spanish electric mobility firm Stark Future, fostering potential synergies. This strategic partnership seeks to leverage their respective strengths in a collaborative pursuit of innovation.

While certain components like battery cells are sourced internationally, Royal Enfield actively engages in in-house manufacturing and supply chain partnerships for other essential parts. The company has expanded its supplier network, embracing 11-12 new collaborators and exploring further opportunities.

Aprilia is turning heads and causing quite the stir in the motorcycle community with a fresh teaser. Yes, a new sportbike is on the horizon, and while the teaser provides just a glimpse, it’s enough to set our pulses racing.

  • Aprilia set to unveil it’s latest sportsbike on September 7.
  • the upcoming motorcycle is believed to be the all-new RS 457 as confirmed by new trademark filing submitted in July.

From the shadows and glimpses across various platforms, what’s becoming clear is that this isn’t just any bike. It seems Aprilia is set to introduce a smaller counterpart to the acclaimed RS 660, potentially giving well-known models like the KTM RC 390, Yamaha YZF-R3, and Kawasaki Ninja 400 a run for their money.

At first, speculation ran wild with enthusiasts and fans trying to guess the name of this mysterious model. Many expected a title in line with its bigger sibling, like the “RS 440”. However, a confirmation from Motorcycle.com put these speculations to rest. Behold, the Aprilia RS 457.

So, what do we know so far?

Visually, the bike is showing its lineage. The front showcases elements reminiscent of the RS 660 and the RSV4, especially with the striking black and red color theme. Yet, it’s not an exact clone. A closer look reveals a somewhat flatter fuel tank and a seat design that boasts a distinct curve. The tail design appears more streamlined, shedding some of the sharp angles seen on the larger models.

But let’s address the elephant in the room – the unconventional name, RS 457. Most brands often opt for rounded numbers for their models. However, Aprilia has broken from the norm. Sharp-eyed fans first got a whiff of this when they spotted the number “457” in filenames of the teaser photo on Aprilia’s website.

Digging deeper, a visit to Aprilia India’s website hinted at the same. Yet, the most definitive hint came in the form of a trademark filing by Piaggio in Italy for the RS 457 logo.

While the teaser might not spill all the beans, it’s evident that Aprilia is gearing up to introduce a new gem to its lineup. And if the brand’s history is anything to go by, the RS 457 might just be the fresh breeze the motorcycle community has been eagerly waiting for.

After the unfortunate downfall of Norton Motorcycles in 2020, the prospects for the company’s promising range of 650cc twin-cylinder models seemed bleak.

  • The Atlas Ranger scrambler, Atlas Nomad retro-roadster, and the Superlight sportbike were poised to make waves, but the company’s collapse put a halt to those plans.
  • Zongshen to revived Norton’s 650cc twin-cylinder engine with a new roadster.

Nevertheless, the resilient spirit of the Norton twin-cylinder engine refused to fade away. In a remarkable turn of events, the rights to this modern marvel were licensed to China’s Zongshen, a well-respected player in the motorcycle arena. Armed with determination, Zongshen embarked on a journey of redevelopment, breathing new life into the engine that had once stirred the ambitions of motorcycling enthusiasts worldwide.

The result? The awe-inspiring Cyclone RX650 adventure bike, which recently debuted in the Chinese market, capturing the essence of Norton’s original vision. With a power output of 71hp @ 8,500 RPM and a peak torque of 52Nm @ 7,000 RPM, this reincarnated twin-cylinder engine stands apart in the crowded realm of similarly sized twins.

But the story doesn’t end there. Zongshen’s ingenuity has given birth to an enlarged 850cc version of the engine, promising even more power—98 horsepower and 80Nm of torque. The possibilities of what this revived engine can achieve seem boundless.

As for the design, the Cyclone RE650, an homage to Norton’s legacy, exudes a retro-inspired charm. The trellis-style steel frame pays homage to the RX650 adventure bike, while a genuine aluminum alloy swingarm and KYB upside-down fork contribute to the bike’s poised and modern appeal. The symphony of elements—wire-spoked wheels, an LED headlight, and meticulous proportions—creates a fusion of timeless aesthetics and contemporary sophistication.

One cannot overlook the eccentric asymmetry of the design, a clever nod to the flat-track heritage. The left side sports a distinctive side panel reminiscent of a number board, while the right unveils the rear shock in a bold fashion. An air intake on the left adds an element of intrigue that’s absent on the right, adding to the mystique of the Cyclone RE650.

Zongshen’s reputation in the industry speaks volumes, standing alongside esteemed brands like CFMoto and Qianjiang. The company’s association with Piaggio has yielded fruitful collaborations, including the recent RA900 V-twin roadster—a product of Zongshen’s creativity and the engine from the Aprilia Shiver 900. And the excitement doesn’t stop there; whispers of a reborn Aprilia Shiver, under the Gilera banner, echo in the air.

After nine decades of dominance in the Indian market, the much-awaited 2023 Bullet 350 is finally here, and it has everyone talking.

  • powering the 2023 Bullet 350 is the the same 350cc engine that currently powers its siblings: the Meteor 350, Classic 350, and Hunter 350.
  • the 2023 Bullet 350 pays homage to the model’s heritage but with a mix of modern technology.

A Nod to the Past

“The 2023 Bullet. New heart. Same beat,” says Royal Enfield about their latest Bullet 350. The model pays homage to its rich past while standing toe-to-toe with modern design and technology. It’s clear that Royal Enfield took inspiration from its fanbase. The company recently asked people to share their cherished memories with previous Bullet models, and those stories seem to have influenced the latest Bullet’s introduction film.

What Powers It?

At the heart of the new Bullet 350 lies the same 350cc engine that currently powers its siblings: the Meteor 350, Classic 350, and Hunter 350. The engine is known for its reliable performance, enough to give riders the confidence for long road trips and daily commuting alike.

Built for the Rider

Safety hasn’t been compromised either. The Bullet 350 comes equipped with dual-channel ABS, ensuring better control during sudden stops or tricky road conditions. One of the most striking features is its instrument panel. It marries analogue and digital displays into a unique rounded triangular form that is not just practical but also elegantly designed.

For comfort, Royal Enfield claims to have improved the bench seat to offer better under-thigh support for riders, regardless of the type of journey they’re on. In today’s digital age, a USB port next to the clutch lever on the left handlebar is an intuitive addition for charging smartphones and other devices on the go.

Colour

When it comes to customisation, there are options aplenty. The basic model is available in Military Black or Military Red  but if you’re willing to spend a bit more, you can opt for the Standard trim, available in Maroon or Black. For those who prefer the crème de la crème, the premium Black Gold is also available.
