Earlier in March 2021, it was revealed that Yamaha is planning to introduce an all-new YZF-R7, based on the MT-07 CP2 twin-cylinder 689cc engine.

However, the news also triggered the possibility of an R9 using the MT-09 CP3 triple-cylinder 890cc powerplant.

Now, let us get to the best part. Recent reports (by the good people from Motorcycle.com) revealed that Yamaha had filed a new trademark application in Japan involving a full range of YZF models, ranging from the R15, R20, R25, R2, R4, R5, R8, and R9 with the R7 already on its way.

Let us remind you that these trademark applications do not necessarily mean that the name will put into place; instead, it is sometimes a strategy to avoid other company from using them in the future.

Nonetheless, there is still a high possibility that Yamaha is planning to introduce some of these models especially involving a small-displacements model.

Theoretically, the engine for the R9 is ready, and the R7 has been certified, which put these two as the most logical model to be introduced, but we think Yamaha might follow the footsteps of their Japanese rival, Honda, by introducing a 500cc version of the YZF to go against the CBR500R.

Honda is no stranger to the Red Dot Design Award, having won the company first award in March last year with the CBR1000RR-R SP Fireblade.

The bike later inducted into the Red Dot contemporary design museum in Essen, Germany.

Fast forward to 2021; Honda came out on top again, this time with the all-new Forza 750.

“We have had another successful year, receiving several awards in the Product Design category of the globally-recognized Red Dot Design Award.

“Since our establishment, we at Honda have always aimed to reflect the idea of ‘making customers daily lives more enjoyable in our product design, and we believe that receiving these awards is a recognition of our success in doing this.

“We will continue to follow this unchanging principle, thinking outside the box to design products that provide ‘surprise and excitement to customers’ lives,” explained Chief Operating Officer of the Honda R&D Design Center Toshinobu Minami.

The Red Dot design award is tangible proof that the Japanese marquee has always focused on creating a great machine but looks the part too.

The Forza 750 is one of the most incredible looking maxi-scooter in the market that also offers comfort, performance and practicality.

A small number of the all-new Ducati Multistrada V4 owners has been notified in the North American market to get a full engine replacement.

According to reports, Ducati has found quality issues with valve guides on the new Granturismo V4 engine that can lead to engine failure.

The issue stems from one of the two-part suppliers that produce the valve guides for the Granturismo V4, which Ducati later discovered.

As a solution, Ducati decided to replace the entire engine of the 60 models affected around North America with a new unit that has just been built in the Ducati factory.

The owners will also be compensated in three ways;

1) 2-years free annual maintenance
2) free radar software upgrade
3) USD1,500 voucher

The Husqvarna Norden 901 was first introduced as a concept at the 2019 EICMA, and it quickly gained attraction.

The motorcycle was first spotted in December last year in an all-black form, but this time, there is a pinch of KTM orange at the front fender, which we find odd.

Nonetheless, Husqvarna decided to retain most of the design from the original concept. The circular full-LED headlamp flanked by auxiliary lights helped created an entire identity for the motorcycle.

Based on the KTM 890 Adventure, the Norden 901 packs two-part fuel tanks to increase gravity’s low centre.

The 901 is also expected to be powered by the same 898cc parallel-twin engine, and it could also come with radar assist cruise control found on the 2021 1290 Super Adventure S.

The Husqvarna Norden 901 is expected to be launched sometime this year as a 2022 model.
