Ducati is set to make waves in the motorcycle industry with the unveiling of their latest offering, the 2024 Multistrada V2 S.

  • 2024 Ducati Multistrada V2 S will arrive with a new colour scheme.
  • the Multistrada V2 S is equipped with the firm’s  937cc Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine, delivering a peak of 113hp.

While the spotlight has been on the V4 models, Ducati is focusing on refining their V2 lineup for the upcoming year.

The Multistrada V2 S will receive a bold new look with the introduction of a Thrilling Black and Street Grey color scheme. This new livery enhances the sporty spirit of the middleweight motorcycle, with eye-catching red wheel rims and sleek model name graphics on the front side panels. The additional aesthetic touches come at a small premium of $400 over the base price.

Mechanically, the powertrain remains unchanged, and that’s a good thing considering the major refresh it received in 2022. Powering the bike is the impressive 937cc Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine, delivering a peak of 113 horsepower @ 9,000 rpm and maximum torque of 98Nm @ 6,750 rpm.

The chassis also remains the same, featuring a front trellis frame and two lateral cast subframes that provide a rigid structure. The V2 S version comes equipped with Ducati’s renowned semi-active Skyhook Suspension EVO, ensuring a smooth and comfortable ride. The Multistrada V2 S boasts a Brembo brake system with Cornering ABS and 19/17 wheels.

Ducati’s commitment to advanced electronics is evident in the Multistrada V2 S. The motorcycle features a comprehensive electronics suite that includes ABS Cornering, Vehicle Hold Control (VHC), and Ducati Traction Control as standard equipment. Riders will also enjoy the convenience of cruise control, a quickshifter, and a 5-inch color TFT dashboard. The V2 S offers four riding modes (Sport, Touring, Urban, and Enduro) and LED lighting, which is a rarity for an entry-level Multistrada.

BMW is making strides in motorcycle technology with the development of illuminated winglets, according to their latest patent.

  • This innovation could potentially be incorporated into future BMW Motorrad models, including the M 1000 RR and M 1000 R.
  • The illuminated aero is aimed at reducing weight whilst enhancing visibility.

Currently, BMW’s S 1000 RR and M 1000 RR motorcycles feature turn signals integrated into their mirrors, eliminating the need for additional protrusions on the sides of the bike.

However, this solution adds weight and cost. By utilizing the winglets as turn signals, BMW aims to reduce weight and improve cost-efficiency. The LED strips in the winglets have a lower and more forward mass distribution, providing a slight advantage in terms of weight distribution.

The illuminated winglets serve a dual purpose, combining daytime running lights (DRLs) and turn signals. When the turn signals are not in use, the DRLs remain illuminated, turning off on one side only when the turn signal is activated.

This arrangement enhances visibility, especially in low-light conditions, making the motorcycle more noticeable to oncoming traffic. The wider separation of the DRLs defines the bike’s widest part, allowing for easier estimation of its speed.

In addition to the lighting elements, BMW’s patent also includes a projector light mounted on the lower surface of the winglets. This light is designed to project a puddle of light onto the ground, similar to the puddle lights found in cars. This feature enhances visibility when stopped, providing a better view of the surface on which the motorcycle’s sidestand is placed.

The patent even suggests the possibility of incorporating a transparent liquid-crystal display into the projector light, allowing for customizable patterns to be projected onto the ground.

While the primary purpose of the winglets is aerodynamic, BMW’s lighting innovation could prove to be more advantageous for riders in terms of safety. With the combination of enhanced visibility and the projection of light onto the ground, these illuminated winglets could offer significant benefits to motorcyclists in the future.

The long-awaited Moto Guzzi V100 Mandello are now officially available in Malaysia after it’s successful global introduction two-years ago.

  • The V100 Mandello is available in two variants; Standard and S.
  • The first production motorcycle to feature adaptive aero.

The V100 Mandello is available in two different trims, Standard and S with the latter features lavish components including Öhlins Smart EC 2.0 semi-active suspension, quickshifter, heated grips, TPMS and Moto Guzzi MIA system.

That said, the standard is available at RM99,900 while the S comes in at RM117,900.

The V100 Mandello is not just another new motorcycle coming from Moto Guzzi, it also represents the brand bold move into the 21st century.

This is due to the fact that the V100 is the first production motorcycle to feature semi-active suspension, 6-axis IMU, cornering ABS, quickshifter and a liquid-cooled engine.

Basically, it is the first Moto Guzzi with everything modern and we are surprised that the V100 Mandello even has an adaptive aerodynamics package. Nevertheless, as a sport-touring machine, the V100 Mandello still sport the classic element of a Moto Guzzi.

The V100 Mandello makes 115hp and 105Nm @ 3,500rpm from its 1,042cc transverse 90-degree V-Twin engine. The engine is also 103mm shorter than the V85 TT platform. Thanks to a lower positioning of the drive shaft, the V100 Mandello offers a smooth ride during accelerating and decelerating on par to a bike with a chain drive.

It also features a 17.5L fuel tank and a large saddle comfortable for riders and pillion. However, to increase comfort, the V100 is equipped with adaptive air deflectors located at the front fairing which extend to different degrees depending on the riding mode and bike speed.

According to Moto Guzzi, air deflectors can reduce wind disturbance up to 22%. Moving on to the best bits, the V100 gets Öhlins semi-active suspension, traction control, three engine maps, and three engine braking that can be accessed via a 5″ TFT display.

“Crap, I may not make this turn, I’m going to make a fool of myself and fall off the bike,” I thought to myself as the group I was riding with suddenly made a hard right U-turn from the tarmac to cobbled stones with a steep drop connecting both terrains.

I was part of a group of riders from South East Asia who were invited to ride the Husqvarna Norden 901 at the romantic island of Jeju, in Korea. I was the only one from Malaysia, so national pride rode on my shoulders as well.
