Honda has unveiled the 2022 Rebel 250, which will sit at the bottom of the company’s cruiser motorcycle alongside the Rebel 500 and the Rebel 1100.

The new Rebel 250 makes 25.6hp and 22Nm thanks to its 249cc single-cylinder engine and mated to a 6-speed gearbox.

The Rebel 250 is fitted with a low seat height of 690mm and forward-set footpegs for relaxed and comfortable riding ergonomics, making it suitable for beginner riders.

According to reports, the ‘baby’ Rebel is scheduled to go on sale beginning January 2022.

Meanwhile, the latest reports also suggest the bike will finally make its way to global markets after the previous model was only made available in Japan.

The 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa and Suzuki V-Strom 1050 XT are now available in Malaysia for a price of RM111,200 and RM81,900 respectively.

2021 Suzuki Hayabusa

The 3rd-generation Hayabusa was officially unveiled earlier this year via Suzuki Motorcycle Global Salon before it was presented by Suzuki Malaysia, last month.

The third generation Hayabusa has gone through a major makeover for 2021 with a sharper and sleek exterior including an all-new electronic package.

Apart from electronic gizmos, the 1,340cc inline-four engine (now Euro 5 compliant) produces 187hp @ 9,700rpm and 150Nm @ 7,000rpm and is paired to a 6-speed transmission.

Although the numbers are lower than the previous generation Suzuki claimed the new engine delivers better power delivery at low and mid-rpm.

Major changes to the engine include revised cam profiles, redesigned combustion chamber and redesigned crankcase which helps to improve durability and improve oil lubrication.

Other major changes include a new exhaust system, ride-by-wire, and Suzuki Ram Air Direct.

The 2021 ‘Busa is packed with fully adjustable suspension units from KYB while the braking is done by the top-notch Brembo Stylema callipers with 320mm disc front and 310mm at the rear.

 

Suzuki also managed to inject lots of electrical aid mainly the Suzuki Intelligent Ride Suite (SIRS) managed by a 6-axis IMU which get you the following:

  • wheelie control
  • launch control
  • engine brake control
  • rear-wheel lift control
  • three power maps
  • hill hold control
  • speed limiter

To make things fun, Suzuki fitted the Hayabusa with an up/down quickshifter and cruise control which can be set as low as 30km/h up to 200km/h.

2021 Suzuki V-Strom 1050 XT

The V-Strom 1050 XT features the 1037cc 90-degree V-Twin engine, outputting 105hp and 100Nm @ 6,000rpm.

It also features a 3-selectable engine map, 3-level traction control, lean-angle sensitive ABS, load-dependent control, hill hold and most importantly, cruise control.

Suzuki also equipped the V-Strom with SIRS (Suzuki Intelligent Ride System) designed to improve comfort and practicality and also the Motion Track Brake System that helps to prevent mid-corner braking kickback.

Both of these models are now available at Suzuki Malaysia’s authorised dealership.

In a new development, MV Agusta decided to carry on the legacy of Agostini by introducing the special edition Superveloce Ago, as a homage to the great legend.

Dressed in a cafe racer-style appearance, the Ago is heavily inspired by the race bike used by Agostini in the 60s and 70s.

Unveiled by the man himself during the recent MotoGP round in Misano, the Superveloce Ago also reflects the same paint job of Agostini race bikes, including the yellow #1 plate.

Limited to just 15 units (to signify Agostini world titles), the 798cc triple-cylinder motorcycle also comes with a racing kit consisting of an Arrow exhaust, control unit with the racing mag, limited edition carbon plate, tank strap, racing kit box and red handgrips.

Japanese bike manufacturer ICOMA has unveiled Tatamel Bike, an electric bike that can be folded to fit into small spaces.

The Tatamel Bike measures just 700mm long, 680mm tall and 260mm wide when folded, making it the most convenient e-bike ever produced.

Equipped with a lithium iron phosphate battery, the e-bike can reach a top speed of 40km/h and is capable of getting around 50km range at full charge.

Interestingly, the rectangular side panels can also be customised with various colours and materials according to one’s liking.

According to reports, ICOMA is readying the Tatamel Bike for mass production with the official release and price set to be announced at a later date.

According to reputable sources, Royal Enfield has confirmed to begin the development of the Himalayan 650.

Scheduled for a 2024 release, the popular adventure bike (currently available with a 411cc powerplant) is set to receive the 650cc parallel-twin engine taken from the 650 Twins (Interceptor and Continental GT).

While the current Himalayan has loyal followers’ thanks to its all-terrain capabilities and low price, some may think that the 24.3hp engine could use a little push.

Based on new development by an Indian website, the plans are now underway at the Chennai-based factory.

Interestingly, there were no initial plans to kickstart the new project; however, thanks to the company new directive, Royal Enfield decided to inject the Himalayan with a bigger engine.

The 650cc Himalayan will be available in two variants, one with a more adventure setup and another as a sports tourer.

However, the new Himalayan is only slated for a 2024 launch.

Aprilia has rolled back in business ever since introducing the 660cc parallel-twin with the 270-degree crank engine.

The new platform delivers a high power range and an exciting engine sound than your typical parallel-twin.

Aprilia’s RS 660 and the Tuono 660 is the Italian company’s first two bikes to harness the new power mill, which is followed by the upcoming Tuareg 660.

Nevertheless, to accompany the 100hp capable engine, renowned exhaust manufacturer SC Project has developed a full-system exhaust for the Tuono 660.

Inspired by the race-oriented exhaust found on Aprilia’s RS 660 Trofeo range, the SC1-R offers a similar design but is homologated for Euro 5 compliance.

The exhaust is equipped with a catalytic converter, carbon-fibre end-cap and carbon-fibre heat shield.

According to SC Project, the exhaust has been designed to deliver better sound while keeping things legal in emission and noise.
