His vision was to produce accessible and functional motorcycles, and the Superveloce 98 embodies this vision.

The launch of the MV Agusta Superveloce 98 marks a significant chapter in the company’s enduring legacy, underscoring its transformation from a small-capacity motorcycle manufacturer to one of the foremost names in the luxury motorcycle industry. With the Superveloce 98, MV Agusta celebrates its heritage while forging ahead into a promising future.

As the year 2023 winds down with relatively few new motorcycle models launched, it appears that the motorcycle industry is gearing up for a significant wave of innovations in 2024.

Manufacturers worldwide are set to release new versions of existing models and entirely new bikes, promising exciting prospects for motorcycle enthusiasts.

Below, we introduce you to five bikes to look out for in 2024, all poised to make a significant impact on the market.

1. BMW R 1300 GS

BMW is set to redefine the adventure motorcycle segment with the all-new BMW R 1300 GS. Despite initial expectations that the boxer-twin engine had reached its limits with the R 1250 GS, BMW engineers have completely overhauled the engine.

Although the displacement has only increased by a modest 46cc, to a true 1,300cc, it now delivers an impressive 145 horsepower. More importantly, the bike has shed 12kg in weight, showcasing a departure from the trend of ever-bulky adventure motorcycles.

The R 1300 GS boasts an extensive electronics package and innovative self-lowering suspension, offering peerless performance, practicality, and durability across a variety of road surfaces.

2. Aprilia RS 457

Aprilia enters the small-capacity motorcycle market with the Aprilia RS 457, a sleek and nimble bike powered by a liquid-cooled DOHC twin-cylinder engine producing 47 horsepower.

The RS 457 bears a striking resemblance to the iconic RSV4, featuring an aluminum frame and a commendable weight of just 175kg. This model brings advanced technology down to smaller bikes, including ride-by-wire throttle with three riding modes, dual-channel ABS, a full-color TFT dashboard, and a comfortable riding position. With its Aprilia DNA, the RS 457 promises an enjoyable ride on both roads and tracks.

3. Triumph Speed 400

Triumph introduces the Speed 400 as part of its new 400cc lineup, designed as a ‘sporting roadster.’ Mechanically identical to the Scrambler 400 X, the Speed 400 is built in India through Triumph’s partnership with Bajaj.

This model boasts ride-by-wire throttle for traction control, a six-speed gearbox with a slip and assist clutch, Showa suspension, and a user-friendly analog speedometer with a digital display. LED lighting and exceptional Triumph build quality further enhance its appeal, resembling the larger Speed Twin 1200 from a distance.

4. Triumph Scrambler 400 X

Triumph’s Scrambler 400 X represents a milestone for the company, as it’s their first single-cylinder engine in over five decades. Equipped with a fuel-injected DOHC unit generating 40 horsepower and 37Nm of torque, the Scrambler 400 X blends a ‘street scrambler’ style with off-road capabilities.

Metzeler Karoo Street tires facilitate off-road adventures, while the bike’s 19-inch front and 17-inch rear tire sizes allow for various street rubber options. With a total weight of 179kg and Triumph’s renowned build quality, this model is expected to be a resounding success.

5. BMW F 900 GS

BMW enters the middleweight adventure bike category with the F 900 GS, poised to compete with Triumph and KTM.

Replacing the F 850 GS, this model boasts an 895cc, eight-valve parallel twin engine delivering a smooth 103hp.

The overall weight has been reduced by 14kg, and the design leans slightly more towards an off-road aesthetic. Meanwhile, the F 900 GS Adventure replaces the 14.5L tank with a 23L.

Offering a range of upgraded electronics and an optional Dynamic electronic suspension, this model aims to cater to a diverse range of riders.

With these five bikes set to hit the market in 2024, motorcycle enthusiasts can look forward to an exciting year filled with innovation, advanced technology, and exceptional performance. Stay tuned for further updates.

The sneak peeks into the Himalayan 452 have revealed several noteworthy features that promise to make it a game-changer in the adventure biking world. In this report, we delve into four crucial aspects of this imminent release.

1. Design: A Fusion of Familiarity and Freshness

The design of the Royal Enfield Himalayan 452 strikes an impressive balance between retaining elements of its predecessor, the Himalayan 411, and introducing novel, purpose-driven aesthetics. With a rugged and versatile appearance, this motorcycle embodies the spirit of Himalayan exploration. Adorned with a distinctive white paint scheme, it proudly displays its lineage. While videos and images provide a glimpse into its road presence, the full extent of its visual appeal can only be fully appreciated in person.

2. Innovative Instrument Cluster

One standout feature of the Himalayan 452 is its circular, all-digital instrument cluster. Notably, the top half of the screen is dedicated to GPS navigation, offering riders a convenient and comprehensive way to navigate unfamiliar terrains. The lower half of the display is reserved for vital ride data, ensuring essential information is always at the rider’s fingertips. The well-organized layout and legible fonts enhance the overall user experience, underscoring the thoughtfulness of design.

3. Tubeless Spoke Wheels: A Premium Option

Royal Enfield’s commitment to offering an exceptional riding experience is evident in the provision of tubeless spoke wheels for the Himalayan 452. These wheels, spotted on test bikes, may be presented as an upscale variant, considering their relatively higher manufacturing cost. The introduction of tubeless spoke wheels not only enhances safety but also showcases Royal Enfield’s dedication to providing premium options to its discerning riders.

4. Impressive Cycle Parts and Features

The Himalayan 452 doesn’t skimp on performance and utility. It is equipped with non-adjustable upside-down forks for enhanced stability and control, ensuring a smooth ride on challenging terrains. The rear suspension features a seven-step preload adjustability setup, offering riders the flexibility to customize their ride experience.

CEAT tires, with a design reminiscent of the renowned Gripp series, ensure a firm grip on diverse surfaces. Additionally, the motorcycle comes standard with handguards, an essential feature for off-road adventurers. For added convenience, a built-in USB charging port is included to keep devices powered during long journeys.

As the anticipation builds and the release date approaches, enthusiasts and riders alike can look forward to experiencing the power and versatility of the Himalayan 452 firsthand.

Castrol Malaysia has unveiled its latest initiative, the “Castrol Back to School” program, aimed at raising road safety awareness among young motorcyclists. This comprehensive program highlights Castrol’s dedication to safeguarding lives on the road and advocating safety and protection.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), one in three road fatalities in Southeast Asia involves motorcyclists. From 2010 to 2019, the Malaysia Road Fatalities Index reported that 59% of fatalities were associated with motorcyclists. These statistics underscore the pressing need for a robust road safety campaign that starts with education and empowerment.

In collaboration with MotoWazi and with the support of the Ministry of Education, the “Castrol Back to School” program is tailored for high school students aged 16 and 17 who have recently acquired their motorcycle licenses. The program encompasses both theoretical and practical road safety sessions, which are conducted within school premises during regular school hours.

“Road safety is a shared responsibility. Through the ‘Castrol Back to School’ program, Castrol aims to instil a culture of safety among young motorcyclists, emphasising that protection begins with making the right choices, including the selection of Castrol lubricants for their motorcycles. We aim to equip young riders with the knowledge and skills they need to remain safe on the road,” expressed Keow Mei-shan, Marketing Director of Castrol Malaysia and Singapore.

Wazi Bin Abdul Hamid, a motorcycle safety instructor and road safety expert, will oversee the theoretical sessions, ensuring that students receive valuable insights into road safety practices and regulations. The MotoWazi team is enthusiastic about this partnership and its potential impact on young riders.

“We are delighted to collaborate with Castrol on this initiative. Our objective is to empower young motorcyclists with the knowledge and awareness necessary to protect themselves and others on the road,” stated Wazi Bin Abdul Hamid.

In its initial phase, the “Castrol Back to School” program will be introduced to ten schools in the Klang Valley from September to October 2023. Castrol’s plan is to extend this program to fifty schools across the nation in 2024, with the ultimate goal of creating a safer road environment for all Malaysians.

The “Castrol Back to School” program is more than just an educational campaign; it signifies Castrol’s unwavering commitment to safety. This initiative not only associates Castrol with road safety but also fosters a culture of protection, emphasizing that when it comes to road safety, one can always “Think protection, think Castrol.”
