Triumph Motorcycles is soon to announce a new range of small and medium capacity bikes in collaboration with Indian firm Bajaj Auto.

Triumph penned a deal with Bajaj back in January 2020 to develop a new range of so-called ‘baby’ Triumph that would sit between 200 to 750cc model range.

While the Covid-19 pandemic has pushed back the new model’s unveiling, according to Triumph Motorcycles Head of Brand Management, Miles Perkins, plans are still on track.

“That’s going great guns, I have seen the development motorcycles and the prototype for those, it’s all on track.

“We haven’t yet confirmed exactly what the bikes are and exactly when we will launch them but the news is forthcoming soon,” he said.

Interestingly, the latest update suggests that the new range will be sold globally, dismissing the earlier reports that Triumph intends to target only the Asian markets.

Meanwhile, Triumph is currently busy updating its 2022 range starting with the recently launched new Tiger Sport 660. The British firm is also set to unveil the new Tiger 1200 range after dropping a few sets of teaser photos and videos of the new adventure bike.

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has launched the Yamaha Y15ZR Doxou Limited Edition for the local market.

Limited to just 5,000 units, the Doxou edition Y16ZR is priced at RM11,688 (excluding insurance and registration).

The Doxou edition Y16ZR features a unique colourway (a combination of red and blue livery) that further accentuate the overall look.

The blue and red colours are also featured on the front and rear wheel.

Every purchase comes with an exclusive DOXOU gift set which includes an appreciation certificate, an exclusively designed sporty visor with a specially-made coloured ring screw as well as the Limited Edition DOXOU emblem.

Customers will also receive a safety disc lock with every purchase of the limited edition Y16ZR.

According to HLYM, customers can also get their hands on Doxou apparel online via the Genblu Online Shop.

 

Ducati ends the third quarter of 2021 with a positive result as the Italian firm delivered 49,693 units of motorcycles worldwide.

The numbers also exceeded the sales volume recorded in the whole of 2020 with 48,042 deliveries.

Italy remains the biggest market for the Borgo Panigale factory with 7,954 units counted followed by the United States (7,475) and Germany (5,627).

The Ducati Multistrada V4 continue to be the most sought model followed by the Ducati Scrambler 800 range, the Streetfighter V4 and the new Monster.

“Ducati closed the first nine months of the year with sales volumes that are already higher than the full year 2020, both for the bikes and for after-sales products like clothing, accessories and spare parts.

“The growth we are experiencing is practically widespread on all the main markets in which Ducati is present and extends across the product families.

“We are very satisfied with the results obtained: the community of Ducatisti is growing all over the world and the most influential magazines in the motorcycling sector are awarding important prizes to Ducati bikes.

From concept to reality in under two years, the all-new Harley-Davidson Sportster S now lands in Malaysia with a starting price of RM92,900.

Harley-Davidson first unveiled the 1250 Custom in July 2018, a concept motorcycle dubbed to be the heir to the throne of the ageing Sporster range.

Three years later, the Milwaukee-based company finally unveiled the finished product with the 2021 Sportster S.

The new Sportster S set to take the world by storm thanks to the acclaimed 1250 Revolution Max, a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 1,252cc V-Twin powerplant capable of producing 121hp and 127Nm.

In an effort to make the riding experience even better, the Sportster comes with variable valve timing (VVT) and self-adjusting lifters, the same function available on the Pan America.

According to Harley-Davidson, the powertrain also function as a stressed member, thus eliminating the traditional frame, which significantly reduces motorcycle weight to just 227kg and results in a very stiff chassis that contributes to precise handling.

The Sportster also comes equipped with a preload-adjustable Showa (piggyback) rear shock connected to the steel trellis swingarm and a fully adjustable 43mm Showa upside/down fork.

A four-piston Brembo radial calliper handles the braking with a 320mm disc at the front and a two-piston Brembo calliper at the rear with a 260mm disc.

Harley’s even generous enough to fit the motorcycle with a six-axis IMU that offers cornering enhance antilock brakes, enhanced traction control, Drag-Torque Slip Control System, and tire-pressure monitoring system.

To complete the 21st-century features, the Sportster S sport a spherical 4″ TFT instrument, all-around LED-lighting, three riding modes with two custom setups and Bluetooth connectivity.

Other notable functions include:

  • two dedicated power points for pre-wired heated grips
  • USB-C port
  • Cruise control
  • Temperature sensor
  • 12L tank

 

Bajaj is set to unveil an updated version of the Dominar 400 UG for 2022.

The new Dominar is fitted with a taller windscreen to improve win protection and comfort, especially during long-distance riding.

Bajaj also equipped the ‘facelift’ model with a handguard that helps protect the hand from road debris, which we think is a good move considering that is one of the first things that previous Dominar owners did once they got their hands on the bike.

Not only that, the 2022 Dominar also comes with a rear luggage rack as standard, including a redesigned bash plate and engine guard that now protects the radiator.

Nonetheless, the bike’s overall look and specifications remain the same, including the 373.3cc single-cylinder DOHC liquid-cooled engine that continues to deliver 40PS @ 8,800rpm and 35Nm @ 6,500rpm.

The Dominar 400 range is currently sold in Malaysia under the Modenas brand.

Chinese motorcycle manufacturer, CFMoto has unveiled the SR-C21 prototype, deemed to be the company next sports bike.

 

Further details remain scarce but we were informed that the concept will move into production in 2022 and will run on a 400cc engine despite the teaser video showing what could be a bigger capacity powerplant.

Nonetheless, the prototype features some top-notch components including Brembos, Ohlins suspensions, single-sided swingarm, SC-Project exhaust and get this, MotoGP inspired winglets!

On that note, the overall design looks great perhaps thanks to CFMoto extensive ties with KTM and European design house Kiska Design.

Nonetheless, there is the possibility of the SR-C21 runs on a 790cc or 890cc parallel-twin which could be a game-changer for the Chinese manufacturer.
