Brembo is ready to go green after successfully producing high-performance brake pads that are less harmful to the environment.

  • Brembo Greenance brake pads is less harmful to the environment.
  • Features lower non-renewable materials.

According to Sebastinio Rio, Chief Operating Officer of Brembo, the approach made is by reducing the use of non-renewable materials in construction and using eco-friendly manufacturing methods.

“We are adding a reduction in wear, so that is a green aspect as we are reducing consumption.

“Meanwhile, we have removed some components such as copper and nickel to maintain those components as green.

“Plus in the manufacturing process we have cut something like 60% energy consumption. It’s a combination of a green product and a green process,” Rio told MCN

Interestingly, while saving the environment, the Greenance brake pads also claimed an increase in stopping power thanks to better heat resistance.

According to Brembo, the Greenance pads also meet European safety standards and feature NUCAP Retention System. Nevertheless, Rio stated that the company’s green efforts would continue to evolve.

“We are still working on trying and making our products more green every time.

“We are now having a look at recyclability, aluminium is recycled. We are working in a different environment with a reduction of waste and the utilisation of water in our factory, and the consumption of energy,” he added.

Brembo has introduced a new radial master cylinder for 2023.

  • Brembo 19RCS Corsa Corta RR Race Replica takes Brembo racing pedigree to production bikes.
  • The 2023 19RCS features redesigned lever.

Brembo has strong presence with motor racing for many years now, most notably, the MotoGP whereby the Italian firm has a monopoly.

That said, Brembo is bringing its latest production, a new 19RCS Corsa Corta RR Race Replica radial master cylinder which is directly derived from motor racing.

According to Brembo, the 19RCS Corsa Corta RR Race Replica features a hard-oxidised finish that enhance wear resistance whilst reducing friction.

In addition, the floating piston and gaskets are the same material used in MotoGP.

For 2023, Brembo also redesigned the lever but maintaining the selector at the top which allows users to fine tune the brake ‘bite point’.

There are three responsiveness settings to choose from; Normal, Sport and Race.

The 2023 19RCS also continue to feature Brembo’s Ratio Click System (hence the RCS) that changes the fulcrum-to-piston distance between 18mm and 20mm. The feature can be adjusted via an adjuster screw.

Pricing is yet to be announced but the new radial master cylinder will available from 2023.

Honda has decided to abandon Öhlins suspension and Brembo brakes set up for the upcoming 2022 season.

Instead, the big technical change will see HRC to put their faith on Showa’s suspension and Nissin brakes.

HRC did a test with Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge for in Jerez for comparison and after the assesment, the team decided to equipped the CBR1000RR-R with an entirely “Made in Japan” components.

The team previously relied on Öhlins and Brembo until last year but due to the disappointing result, HRC decided it’s best to apply some major changes ahead of next season.

More importantly, Showa boast an important experience in the WorldSBK with Kawasaki while Nissin already equipping the BMW Motorrad machine.

– Motorsport
