More bad news announced at the start of the MotoGP 2020 season as the Thai government stated that they’ll be suspending the OR Thailand Grand Prix which is scheduled to take place from 20-22 March 2020. This decision was made due to the recent Coronavirus or COVID-19 outbreak which has been plaguing several countries around the globe, including Thailand.

The announcement was made by Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister and Public Health Minister, Anutin Charnvirakul, earlier today. According to his statement in the Bangkok Post, “It is necessary for us to postpone the OR Thailand Grand Prix 2020 in Buri Ram scheduled for late March for an indefinite period since Covid-19 has been declared a dangerous communicable disease which has sent a world-wide impact. This is to reflect the government’s seriousness in tackling the problem. The prime minister has been informed about this.”

Motorsports fans in the region will definitely be disappointed with this news as the season opener in Qatar this weekend will also be missing the premier class race due to Qatar travel restrictions placed for people coming from Italy. The Moto3 and Moto2 races will still take place at the Losail International Circuit as the teams and riders are already there after wrapping up their final pre-season testing last weekend.

Due to the circumstances related to the current spreading of Coronavirus aka COVID-19, the MotoGP premier class race scheduled to take place in Qatar this weekend is now cancelled for all sessions. The final MotoGP pre-season testing has just concluded in Qatar where Yamaha riders seemed to dominate throughout the three days sessions. They’re well on their way to bringing the fight over to Honda, who’s currently suffering from major issues concerning their 2020 Honda RC213V. (more…)

The three-day MotoGP test in Qatar has finally concluded with some very interesting results from the entire grid. One thing is for sure is that Yamaha has got it locked down when it comes to putting down some incredible lap times, particularly Maverick Vinales (Monster Energy Yamaha MotoGP) who was the fastest out of all the three days.

The Qatar MotoGP Test is currently underway and after two days of testing, Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) remains at the top of the timesheets despite saying that he is still not ‘ready to race’. Still getting with grips with the 2020 Yamaha YZR-M1 ‘factory-spec’ machine, the young Frenchman continues to impress and improve his riding skills against the rest of the field. (more…)

HRC (Honda Racing Corporation) is serious about keeping their star rider, Marc Marquez, tied with them for a very long time as the 2019 World Champion inked a four-year contract extension to race for the Honda factory squad. KTM is ready for some serious MotoGP 2020 podium contention with the official unveiling of the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing and Red Bull KTM Tech 3 liveries. Fabio Quartararo (Petronas Yamaha SRT) clearly dominated the recent Sepang MotoGP Test but a lot of attention was also focused on other manufacturers in the grid, particularly KTM and Aprilia. While the latest KTM RC16 has proven to be a force to be reckoned with this season, Aprilia brought in their A-game with the 2020 Aprilia RS-GP; a completely different machine from the 2019 prototype.
